the reason someome put you article up for deletion, because it wasn't completed, which made it unclear. In the future, if you haven't completed an article, and you save it, you should type inuse at the top of the article, to let other users know that you've purposesly saved the article.

you're welcome. I hope to see alot more of you here on wikiHow:).

Regarding: :{}

Greetings,

I noticed that you have been uploading photos to wikiHow. Adding photos to articles is one of the best ways to help our free how-to instructions become more understandable for our readers. Thank you.

Unfortunately, it appears that some of the photos you have uploaded are not properly licensed. Don't despair though, I can help you fix this.

 • If you took the photo yourself, please just reply to this message and I will note it as being OK to share on wikiHow. Alternatively, you can do this yourself by clicking on the link above, pressing edit this page at the top, and writing Self in it.
 • If you copied this image from another website or search engine that did not explicitly freely license its photos, the image will need to be deleted from wikiHow. Unfortunately, almost all images you can find on the Internet are copyrighted and not appropriate to use on wikiHow unless we have explicit permission from the copyright holder.

In the future, you can easily find freely licensed photos by following these easy instructions to find photos right here on wikiHow. Although this may sound confusing, it will make more sense with time. Please stick with us and don't give up! In the meantime, feel free to ask me, anyone on the help team, or one of our administrators if you have any questions. Thanks again for contributing to wikiHow. You need to provide a license for the images.

if you got them from a website, you need to have permission or they need to be freely licensed, if you cannot prove this then they will be deleted.

THat sonic pen trick looks awesome. thanks for adding the photos and all.

I hope you keep contributing here!

Sondra C said:

I did look at it now, and I agree it is coming along great. You will be creating a very nice article, but the problem is, that once a tag is on you cannot just remove it. The pictures you are adding make the article so much better. This might even become a Featured ARticle.;)

The proper procedure, when you see NFD on an article, is to post on the discussion page, that you are in the middle of creating this article, and that you would like the nfd tag removed.

May I make a suggestion, that I am certain you were not aware of. Whenever you start any article, place an inuse tag on it. Then no one will touch it, knowing that you are in the middle of creating an article. Just use this and in the center type inuse.

I look forward to seeing the completed article.;) and if you ever need any assistance please do not hesitate to ask me. I am always pleased to help others.

Jack H said:

I just nominated it for featured article! Tell me when you are done editing it so I can capitalize the title.

Rob S said:

Hi AJ,

I've fixed the title on your Do a Sonic Pen Trick [the first being "Do a sonic pen trick.]. If you need to edit it, you can do so from there.

Thanks a bunch for the article. I've wanted to learn how to do that.

Rob S said:

Nah, I only fixed the title. Sorry if I confused you.

Rob S said:

Anything that was on the page, I moved to the new one. You can get to the article by clicking here.

Shaiaqua said:

if the articles are from a website then why did you put the self made license?

Shaiaqua said:

you wrote:

 * (From www.Pentrix.com)
and yet you put the self made license.

Sondra C said:

I do not understand your question. I explained to you what had happened, by accident.;)

Are you talking about something else?

Shaiaqua said:

very well then.

Jack H said:

Looks like someone just capitalized the title http://www.wikihow.com/Do-a-Sonic-Pen-Trick

Is all OK with it?

Jack H said:

Good deal.

Sondra C said:

I am always glad to hear from you. I left a message on the discussion page for you..Loved the article!

Master Tyler said:

Nice! It looks great. I'm getting ready to read it through.

Sondra C said:

thank you I would love to

Master Tyler said:

not that I know of, I've corrected some spelling errors, but other than that, it seems very accurate.

Master Tyler said:

you're welcome.

Master Tyler said:

you're welcome. :)

Master Tyler said:

Thanks for helping wikiHow grow into something beautiful.
Thank you for your remarkable edits on wikiHow. You joining wikiHow has brought us numerous fantastic articles, within one day. Keep up the good work. We hope you stay a while.

Rob S said:

It's not a bad start. Although, you might want to read up on the Writer's Guide, just to understand the desired format for wikiHow articles and what not -- specifically, in reference to the way that you begin steps.

Jack H said:

I gave the fire article a quick skim. It looks good, but I'll have to go back later and read to give you better feedback. One quick thing I can offer is that you need to provide the attribution URL of your images. If you are taking the images from Wikipedia which is fine, use the GFDL license as you did , but also put a link back to the URL on Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons where you found the image. If on the other hand you found the images on a Google image search, we will need to delete them since they won't fit our free license requirements.

This is probably confusing. :) More info on how to Find Free Images on wikiHow.

Drop me a line and I'll provide more help tomorrow.

Master Tyler said:

you're welcome.

Rob S said:

If you open an article in Advanced Mode, that'll do away with the problem of adding extra numbered lines to the article — assuming that that's what you mean.

It seems like that you have a relatively decent idea of the wiki formatting, but in case that you haven't looked away, the Editing Help Page has a couple of tricks that you can mess around with.

KnowItSome said:

will take a look

Jack H said:

OK, great. So when you get the photos from one of those royalty free photo sites, be sure to list the URL in the image description area. That way others can confirm the images are free and no one will delete the images by mistake.

Nice work!

Edge said:

I understand that you want to promote an article, but posting multiple times on users talk pages is spam. Please avoid asking users to look at a page unless you have questions or need help with it. Or of course if you think it could help them.

If you want to promote an article, you can put a link to it on your author page and a note saying why you think is a good article. If you need any help doing this let me know.

Shaiaqua said:

your article is great, but you need to remove the caps and check the grammar in step one.

We do not want anything in all caps, those things can go once in the warnings section, repetition is not a good thing.

Shaiaqua said:

sorry to bother you again, but are the pictures on your pen trick article of you or someone you know holding the pen, or just something found on the internet?

Nicole Willson said:

It doesn't look like much needs to be done with it actually. It's in pretty good shape as far as preparedness for FA status.

Personally, I noticed a lot of repetition of the word "place" at the beginning of steps. Also I don't know if it reads well to start off step 3 with the word "important". Finally, there are no external links and most FAs benefit from those

But that's just my two cents.

Hi AJ,

I did some formatting and copyediting on the page about doing a sonic pen trick (Do a Sonic Pen Trick). It looks good! The only part that's confusing is in what is now the second step, where it says to "Place enough upward tension with the thumb to hold it tightly..." but the picture doesn't show the thumb actually applying tension on the pen. In fact, that picture looks almost exactly like the first, so it might be hard for the readers to follow along if they want a visual reference for the second step. I hope this feedback helps! =)

nice welcome template

Shaiaqua said:

I don't know what will happen about that, but it seems like they are cleared...

Jack H said:

Hey there,

I see you have been doing lots of editing around wikiHow today. All fantastic! Everything I saw looked great, but one tip I wanted to offer was that ideally all of our steps should start with action verbs. It isn't a hard and fast rule, but it is a best practice. Check the Writer's Guide for more info on the formet. Anyway, your edits here have been great, I can see that you are going to be a real good contributor here.  :)

Welcome.

Jack H said:

Fantastic. It takes a while...so be patient. But you are on the right path.  :) Read how to Become a wikiHow Admin for full info.

Hi Aj

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm finding wikiHow quite facinating. I've always thought life should come with instructions.....now it does. :)

Edge said:

No problem. I know you weren't being malicious and you've done some really good work on here. I like your user page

Edge said:

I’ve edited you welcome template a bit. You can see all my changes here If you don’t like the changes you can click rollback and it will undo all of them.

I’ve also fixed the link to your template on you user page because it was broken. On your user page you have used external style links (that’s why they have the blue arrow next to them).

The code for an external link is WikiHow The whole address and the text is separated by a space

The code for an internal link to an article is Writers Guide Just the title without “How to”. Make how the caps are correct.

The code for an internal link to another wikiHow page is AJ’s Talk Page Notice the extra : in front and the text is separated by a |

I hope that makes sense. Leave me a message if you need any help

Greetings,

I see you have been welcoming new users. This is great, but you need to know when to welcome and when to warn, or more specifically, when to place a name violation template.

What you should do is:

 1. Read this article, to learn how to welcome new users.
 2. Before applying a welcome template look at the username (this appears as the name in the log, and in the adress bar). If it is in violation of the username policy then you should place a username template, which is made as follows: username, instead of a welcome message.
 3. If the username does not violate the policy, check the real name (what you see in bold at the top of the userpage). If it is in violation of the username policy apply the real name template, which is made as follows: realname or nickname
 4. If the username and real name both do not violate the username policy proceed to apply the welcome template.

Thank you.

Great work on all your efforts here. You have been doing a great job and your articles are both informative and well done.

I noticed in your article about Fires, that you have used all caps. May I point out that according to our writing guide, the best writing excludes ALL CAPS, instant messenger language abbreviations (R U OK?), emoticons :) , or excessive punctuation!!!!

Keep up the good work, it takes time to learn the differences between wikipedia and wikiHow, but you are well on your way and the Writers Guide might be of help to you.

http://www.wikihow.com/Writer's-Guide?section=2#Summary

If I can be of any assistance to you, please ask.

RC Buddy allows you to see recent changes on wikiHow. You can find it in the yellow toolbox. RC Buddy is similar to the 'recent changes' link in the toolbox, but personally, I think Rc buddy is more interesting.

Dave Crosby said:

Hi AJ, thanks for patrolling. Good work. Have you read Patrol Recent Changes on wikiHow, very useful. Also, we don't censor Discussion Pages, have a read of this: Patrol Discussion Pages on wikiHow.

Dave Crosby said:

Nonsense posts? I'd mostly leave along, but the worst cases I'd delete.

Josh W said:

Great article! I added some approximate English conversions for the metric measurements you had.

Sondra C said:

While your articles have been just great, I thought I would just take a minute to make you aware of the fact, that it is not proper, nor necessary to send each editor a note, asking each of them to check an article you have written. Once you finish it, everyone can see and edit it and do.;).:)

There are some differences between wikiHow and wikipedia that you may not as yet be aware of. Possibly this is one of them.

Keep up the good work.

Sondra C said:

I noticed you had asked if you were allow to just revert a discussion page due to swearing.

This is the ruling on discussion page reverts, and the only reasons that any discussion page should be reverted. Since you are new, I figured you did not know this.;)

on discussion pages.. only gratuitous vulgarity & personal attacks should be removed.

Hi AJ.....

Thanks for the welcome. Please let me know several subjects which need some new articles. I have no idea what to write about.

Jack H said:

AJ,

Hey there. How goes? Very nice to see you welcoming so many here.

BTW, I sent you an email regarding the Sonic Pen page. Did you get it?

KnowItSome said:

I rolled you back here:

http://www.wikihow.com/User_talk:Esquilo-Cinza

You improperly welcomed a user whose real name is not appropriate. Have you familiarized yourself thoroughly with our welcoming instructions here?

http://www.wikihow.com/Welcome-Wikihow-Users

and the Username Policy?

Let me know if I can help you.

KnowItSome said:

I have rolled back your welcome here, because you applied to a user who had already been welcomed, and then had been blocked. I am not sure it makes sense to welcome a known trouble maker.......let me know your thoughts on this. I can be flexible on these things. Sometimes there is a good reason.......

I have rolled back your welcome here due to the same real name problem mentioned above:

Marcus said:

Thanks very much, wikiHow is on my google desktop, so I check the site daily, but I'm always checking the wikiHow of the day which sometimes spurs me to think of related wikiHows that should be written.

If there is something I find I can contribute to, I will. Until then, I should really be doing my Psychology Methods research project.

Peace,

Marcus

AJ,

Any news on the Sonic pen page? Did you get the permissions. If past experience is any guide, If they get the email from you, they will say yes. If we don't hear anything soon, I will need to delete the page though.

Right on AJ. Congrats on getting that permission! The page looks great.
