How to Speak Pig Latin
You might think "Pig Latin" was just something your kids made up, but take a closer look. This pseudo-language is widely known and used by English-speaking people, especially when they want to disguise something they are saying from non-Pig Latin speakers. It was first created in WWII when soldiers wanted to communicate to each other without eavesdropping soviets understanding them.
Pig Latin may be used as a spelling game for English language spellers. Practice for fun...

[edit] Tips
- At first, speak slowly so you can correct your mistakes. As time goes on, you'll be able to pick up some speed.
- There's a definite rhythm and flow to the sounds - often it takes some experimentation to get it smooth.
- Some people put dashes in front of the suffix. E.g., ome-say eople-pay ut-pay ashes-day in-way ont-fray of-way e-thay uffix-say.
- Be careful. You could be near people who know a different version or who think you are insulting them when you're not.
- Once you know how to speak it fluently, don't speak too fast to people who don't know it/can't speak it fast yet. Odds are if you can't say it fast, you can't understand it fast.
- Another version uses "aig" before every vowel. Example: bottle is baigottaigle (pronounced bay-got-ay-gul). This is harder for others to catch on, and is more similar to a variation of Gibberish.
[edit] Warnings
- Kids pick up on this stuff VERY fast - you won't be able to protect your secrets for very long once they get the hang of it! Teens know how to speak pig Latin also.
- You may speak this in front of people who have a knack for languages, as they will catch on quickly!
- You may write it out on paper for a note; it is too easy to translate if you write it down.
- You may speak Pig Latin in front of others who speak it a different version. They may find it insulting. Only speak to them in Pig Latin if you want to!
