Little kids often need to be reminded to share. It is hard for some parents to explain to their kids, "Jimmy wants to play with that now," or "Sally would like that doll for a little while." This article will help parents how to tell their kids to share. It will also help kids to learn for themselves.
[edit] Steps
[edit] Instructions for Parents
- Start out slowly and work your way up to telling them they need to share. Say something along the lines of, "Wouldn't it be nice if you could share your nice toy with *insert name* for a few minutes?"
- Plan a play date. This is essential in teaching your child how to share. The other child will come over and then you can explain to your child that he or she needs to let the other child have something to play with too.
[edit] Instructions for Kids
- When you have a friend over, give him or her a toy to play with.
- Show mommy and daddy that you can cooperate (play together) with your friend.
- Play with the same toy for a while.
[edit] Tips
- Parents, it is a good idea to have your kids go to other people's houses too, so they can see how their friends share their toys with them.
[edit] Warnings
- If your kids start to fight with their friends over a toy, take the toy away and discipline them.
