There are many reasons to record messages or audio on your phone. Whether it be for music, or if you need a reminder of what song you just listened to, here are the instructions.

Remember that even though most phones can record, some really old ones may not be able to, so if you can't find it on your phone, you may not have it.
Go to the main menu on your phone and go to tools.
Select something along the lines of "voice memo," or "voice record" etc. All phones are different.
Select one record.
Go to the main menu on your phone and select "My Media," "Entertainment" etc.
Go to "voice memo," "audio record," etc.... Usually, on phone that you need to go to this for, there is a symbol that has a microphone.
Select record.

Remember that all phones are different!
On some phones, it starts recording as soon as you select the microphone, and the recording is usually under "My Media," etc.
