How to Promote a Book
You want to sell your book? It takes perseverance, patience and some understanding of the basic principles involved.
[edit] Steps
- First of all any other websites you have names on let them know about your book. You have myspace? Put it on there you have books to sell.
- Ask certain stores if you can set up a bookstand in front of the store, grocery stores are the best.
- If you can't do that, set up a bookstand in your yard and put an ad in the newspaper to let people know.
- Take orders for books over the computer and have people come a certain day to pick them up.
- Send your story into as many publishers as you can! Don't give up after one try. Did you know that J.K. Rowling was rejected at least 6 times before she was published?
- If you can, make a cool looking cover on the computer or with pencil and paper.
- Ask if you can set up a bookstand in your town's library.
[edit] Tips
- Always type your stories; that will encourage more people to buy it.
- Have someone proofread it for typos and grammatical errors. If you misspell a lot of words, your readers will (A) find your book or story difficult to read, and (B) have a hard time taking you seriously as a writer.
- Make sure you have a back of the book to give a little summary or, even better, make a summary on a colorful piece of cardboard.
- Make it look as interesting as possible wherever you are; that always gets people to come to you. Offer refreshments , maybe say, "if you buy a book you can get a free glass of lemonade along with it."
- If you can, have your book professionally bound with a hard cover. You can learn to to this yourself by searching online for Do-It-Yourself Book Binding.
