This is all about how to play a great group game for 7+ people.

[edit] Steps

  1. Choose someone to be the narrator. This person will tell the story and hopefully has the most experience witht the game.
  2. Sit in a circle.
  3. The narrator tells everybody to go to sleep. (Close their eyes.)
  4. The narrator then says "This is for the mafia". The narrator walks around the circle and taps someone on the shoulder. This person is the mafia member. Then the narrator says "This is for the informant", and does the same thing. With a lot of people, choose 2 mafia members and 2 informants.
  5. Then, to make sure the 2 people that were tapped know who they are, the narrator says mafia, wake up. The person who was tapped should open their eyes. Then the narrator says mafia go to sleep. The narrator does the same for the informant. If the wrong people open their eyes, or no one at all, you must start over.
  6. The role of the mafia is to kill everyone who isn't part of the mafia. The role of the informant is to try to kill the mafia.
  7. Next, the narrator tells everyone to wake up. (It's morning.) Everyone can discuss who they think the mafia is for a minute.
  8. Next is open kill. This is when people can nominate who they think the mafia is. If someone is nominated, someone has to second it for that person to have a trial.
  9. It is possible that no one goes to trial during this round.
  10. If someone is nominated by 2 people, they go to trial. The 2 nominators give their reasons for nominating the person on trial. Then, the person who was accused of being the mafia can defend him/herself. Someone else can also defend the accused.
  11. Next, everyone votes to either kill the nominated or not. The narrator and the nominated person cannot vote.
  12. If the majority says that the nominated person should be hung, the person is out for the rest of the game and may not talk. The narrator then reveals the person's identity: innocent villager, informant, or mafia. If he/she was the mafia, the game is over and the villagers win.
  13. If the majority says that the nominated person should live, or if it is a tie, the person stays in the game and may not be nominated in the next Open Kill.
  14. Next, the narrator tells everyone to go to sleep. (It is night.)
