How to Nominate an Article for the Spotlight

Any featured article, is eligible to become a Spotlight Article, after a period of three months. Anyone can recommend such an article be presented once again as an outstanding article.

[edit] Steps

  1. Browse the selection of past featured articles. Remember that you are looking at the article's discussion page.
  2. Look at the date the article was featured to make sure that at least three months have passed since it was featured. If it meets this criteria, then click "Edit this page".
  3. Place a {{Sac}} tag near the {{Featured}} tag on the top of the article's discussion page.

[edit] Tips

  • An article may be moved ahead of other scheduled articles if it is useful on a particular holiday, just like featured articles.
  • Articles can also be scheduled many months into the future for the same reason.
  • It might take awhile before it is actually chosen, depending on how many nominated articles exist.

[edit] Guidelines for becoming a Spotlight Article

  • Must have been a featured article at least three months (but preferably much longer) preceding its spotlight date.
  • Must include at least one high quality image to be displayed on the article and on the main page.
  • Must be a well-written, heavily edited, useful how-to article.
  • Must have an approximately thirty-word description to be displayed on the Main Page. This can either be separately written, or copied from the summary of that particular wikiHow. (While this is a requirement, it can be done by another editor if you choose the Q&D method using the {{ssug}} tag.

[edit] Warnings

  • Do not nominate articles that have not previously been a featured article.
  • Do not expect your nominated article to arrive on the front page quickly.
  • Do not nominate an article that has already been featured and spotlighted.
