Interested in moving to the beautiful country of Italy? It can be a great place to live, but you will need to do several important things in order to make thing go smoothly.

- Decide whether you really want to move to Italy. What attracts you to this country? The weather? The food? The great places to visit? Write down all of these things. Try to write down as many as you can.
- Make a decision. Is Italy a better country than the one you current live in? Is it for the best? This is the hardest part, as you must consider several important things, like family, friends, and possibly being a long way from home.
- Establish a budget. Be sure to think this through carefully. Make sure you will have enough money to buy a suitable house, to get started in Italy and to live a good life there.
- Research about Italy. Learn about the culture, the history, language, food, drink and more. Find out as much as you can about all this and more.
- Look for properties in Italy. Visit Italy if you can. This also gives you a fantastic chance to get a taste of what is to come, if the decide to make the move. Other good techniques of finding a home are using resources near to you. These are things such as the Internet and books. The estate agent is a must here also, if you want expert help. Think about what you want as well. Do you want a home in a nice quiet part of the country. Or do you want to live near the bustling cities, like Milan and Rome? Think carefully about this, and do not be afraid to discuss it with other people.
- Buy a property if you feel it is what you want. Make sure it is in your price range, and that it is in a safe area. This is going to be a massive step in your life, so discussing it with other people is a wise thing to do. Do not rush into a decision either. Sleep on it and decide when you feel the time is right Remember this will probably be your last chance to pull out, so consider what you do carefully.
- Make sure that your passport is valid. Get all legal documents sorted. This part is essential or you will be refused entry in to Italy.
- Book your method of transportation to Italy. The easiest, but not always cheapest way is by plane, but if you live in Europe it is possible to go by coach and boat. Remember to write down every little detail, such as flight number, airports, and check in times. This is vital for a stress free trip to Italy.
- Pack your bags. Bring everything that you will need. Essentials here are items like Clothes, toiletries, some food and drink to get you started, and most importantly of all: Money. A language dictionary is also a must if you do not know much of the language.
- Convert your currency into Euros. (Unless you live in a country where the Euro is already the national currency) Remember, the more money that you bring, the better start that you will get in Italy. However do not go over your budget.
- Say goodbye to loved one's if they are not accompanying you on the move. This is likely to be a very emotional, so remember to bring tissues! Tell them you love them, and that they are free to come visit any time. Promising to keep in regular contact is reassuring for loved ones as well. It lets them know you are safe, and they can find out how things are going.
- Use your chosen method of transport to get to Italy.

- Do not feel rushed into making a decision. This a a big moment in your life and it is down to you to make a decision, no one else.
- Knowing the Italian language is a very good thing. If you do not, you must learn it as fast as you can if you are going to get a job. If not, you can hire a translator or just be content with a phrasebook or language dictionary.
- Keeping in regular contact with loved ones is great for everyone.
