How to Make a Snow Globe

Snow globes are fun to play with and easy to make. They're a great, simple craft to do on a rainy afternoon.

[edit] Steps

  1. Find a clear empty jar with a cap on it. Glass jars work better than plastic ones.
  2. Fill the jar with water until there is only an inch left. You can add glitter, beads or other small, fun items. On the inside of the cap glue on a small figurine, for example, a plastic animal. Make sure the glue is dry before going on to the next step.
  3. Secure the top onto the jar tightly.
  4. Flip over and shake for the snow globe effect. Enjoy!

[edit] Tips

  • If your jar has a label, soaking or running the jar under hot water loosens the label, making it easier to peel off.
  • It can also be fun to dye the water with food coloring.
  • Some fun things to have as your main object are small plastic dolls and animals or pieces from Monopoly or other board games.

[edit] Warnings

  • If you choose to dye the water with food coloring, make sure you use light colors, not blue and green or you won't be able to see into your snow globe.

[edit] Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Glitter/small beads
