[edit] Steps

  1. Dog wears her seatbelt. Note she is in the backseat and has enough room to stand up and lay down.

Make sure your dog's harness fits properly.
  2. Wrap the lead around the seat.
  3. Slide the clip through the handle.
  4. Clip the lead to the dog.
  5. Make sure the lead is short enough that your dog cannot hit anything should the car suddenly stop.
  6. Feel more confident that if you get into an accident, your dog is going to be safer.

[edit] Tips

  • Always check the lead to make sure it isn't too short or too long.
  • Your dog should always ride in the backseat.

[edit] Warnings

  • Only use a sturdy lead such as leather that is less than a year old.
  • If the lead is too short the dog cannot sit comfortably. She should be able to sit and lie down without trouble.
  • If the lead is too long, she could hit the back of the front seat
  • Never let your dog stick her head out the window while driving. He could get something in his eyes.
  • Never use a collar for this project. Your dog could get choked
  • Don't use a harness that doesn't fit well.

[edit] Things You'll Need

  • Your dog (for measuring)
  • A harness that fits dog securely
  • A lead with enough room to give your dog the ability to lie down and walk in a circle
