How to Make a Scratch off Paper

Here's a fun art project that creates great looking pictures with a cool color effect.

[edit] Steps

  1. Using bright, colorful pastels make patches of color all over the paper. When finished, there should be spots or bars of color covering the whole paper.
  2. Use a black pastel to cover over the whole page, layering it over the colors.
  3. Create your image by scraping the paper with a coin, toothpick, pencil, or other sharp object. Try experimenting with different objects to create diffent "brush strokes."
  4. Cover up any mistakes by re-applying the black pastel over the problem area.

[edit] Tips

  • Since pastels are a little messy, be sure not to smudge your artwork.
