How to Make a Homemade Burrito
Everyone knows this situation: You take out a frozen burrito from your freezer, you place it on a sheet and put it in a preheated 400-degree oven, after about 10 minutes you end up with a hard and crusty rock that is unsatisfactory and just plain nasty. Makes you wish you went to a Mexican restaurant. Well here this is a great recipe that you can make at home, using your own ingredients.
[edit] Ingredients
- 1 Tortilla
- 1 can of refried (or regular) beans, cooked
- Salt and pepper
- Anchovy paste
- Spices as desired
[edit] Steps
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Wet the tortilla a tiny bit on both sides so that it's moist.
- Turn on your burner and place your tortilla DIRECTLY ON the burner to warm it. Watch it carefully, because they warm fast and you don't want black tortilla chips. Make sure to heat both sides.
- Put cooked beans on the tortilla and spread them out on a line.
- Take a small amount of anchovy paste and smear it on the edges of the tortilla. This is to prevent the tortilla from falling apart on you.
- Fold the parts without the beans onto the beans and fold the ends towards each other to close the holes.
- Wrap the burrito in 2 layers of foil and place it in the oven for 10-14 minutes.
- Unwrap and eat.
[edit] Warnings
- Do not overdo it with the anchovy paste because this dish is Mexican not Italian.
- Do not use your hands to flip the tortilla! Use tongs or a spatula.
