How to Make an Ice Gel Pack

Most people experience sore muscles at one point or another. Most people have an ice pack in their freezer for these times. Icy gels are available are every pharmacy and most grocery stores, but if you would like to make your own, it's fairly simple and quick.

[edit] Steps

  1. Place 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol into a medium-sized sealable freezer bag.
  2. Seal the bag and ensure there are no leaks.
  3. Place the bag in the freezer for at least 3 hours. Since the alcohol keeps the water fluid, the mixture will not freeze.
  4. Apply to swollen areas when needed.
  5. After each use, place back into the freezer for future use.

[edit] Tips

  • When you fill the bag, make sure that it isn't overfilled.
  • Add a few drops of blue food color before freezing to make your pack look authentic.

[edit] Warnings

  • Do not try to heat this pack. It is meant for icy relief only, not heat relief.

[edit] Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Watertight freezer bag, medium size
