This unique idea originates in Italy where it is called "Torta
Bomboniera" which translates into "favor cake." It's made by using
carton boxes tied in the form of a cake. Each box has an object
glued to it, and inside holds sugared almonds and a printed card.
Depending on the object and colour(s) of the boxes, a favor cake
makes a great decoration for all occasions, from christenings to
weddings.
- Place the largest carton plate on a flat surface with the strip
creating an edge.
-
Assemble the boxes one by one and place them side by side on the
carton plate, all the way around.
-
Once the first layer is finished, add another (smaller) layer on
top until the "cake" is finished.
-
Gather the sugared almonds and tulle.
-
Fill each of the boxes with five sugared almonds and a printed
card.
-
Glue an object to the top of each "slice."
-
Prepare the central cover.
-
Lay the central cover to the top of the favor cake.
-
Attach an object to the central cover, and the cake is ready for
compliments!
- You'll find many models on the web by searching for "torta
bomboniera" or "favor cakes"
