How to Make Silly Putty
Silly putty was invented by James Wright who was trying to create synthetic rubber during the second World War. Now almost everyone is familiar with the amusing goo found in a plastic egg.For some easy fun with your kids, try this simple recipe to create your own home-made silly putty.

Egg Method
- Put a 1/4 cup of flour and eggs (mix together well).
- Add about half a cup of Elmer's glue and mix together with your fingers.
- After mixing, add a few drops of food coloring and keep mixing it in.
- Add water, then mix!
Borax Method
- Get borax (in the laundry section).
- Mix borax, water, and salt together.
- Get a bottle of Elmer's glue.
- Pour all of the glue into a cup.
- Next, pour a little of the borax mix into the cup full of glue.
- Don't pour too much borax or else it'll get too hard!
- Mix the borax mix and the glue together.
- Carefully take out the mixture.

- If stained hands wash thoroughly with alcohol pads.
- To avoid an unnecessary mess, put down newspaper and have the child wear a bib/old shirt.
- Use disposable gloves to mix the color since food coloring is difficult to wash off and sometimes permanent.
- Cover surfaces when working with food coloring. It usually stains things unless you wash the food coloring while its still wet.
- Don't eat the silly putty.
