How to Make Seasoned Salt

Here are several versions of a spiced up salt mixture that is perfect for cooking soups, grilled foods and other savoury food that needs a little extra spicing up. Making your own seasoned salt is a good way to reduce salt intake and you can tailor the salt to your preferred tastes.

[edit] Ingredients

Method 1:

  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 2 tsp celery salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 tsp onion stock powder (good quality)
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard

Method 2:

  • 1 tsp celery salt
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • Pinch of mace
  • Pinch of paprika
  • 1 tbsp salt

[edit] Steps

Method 1

  1. Mix the ingredients together thoroughly.
  2. Pour into an air-tight container with a lid. Seal.
  3. Use when required. It goes well in dips, salad dressings, soups and on sandwiches.

Method 2

  1. Grind the ingredients together in a mortar and pestle.
  2. Transfer to a storage container as needed.
