How to Make Poke Salad

Have you ever eaten anything growing in the wild? Well here is your chance to try something delicious.

  • Poke-Weed
  • Corn Meal
  • Cooking Oil

  1. Find little shoots of green clusters that look like they have rhubarb stems 8 to 10 inches tall. This is poke-weed.
  2. Collect enough for a meal.
  3. Wash it well.
  4. Chop it up and mix with Corn meal.
  5. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a fry pan.
  6. Place the mixture of poke and corn meal in the fry pan.
  7. Cook until crisp and brown.
  8. Cool off enough and enjoy.

  • For best results pick the poke when it is fresh growth.
  • Serve Hot
