How to Make Movie Butter for Your Popcorn

Hot buttered popcorn. YUM!
Hot buttered popcorn. YUM!
While you can not make "movie butter" as it typically is already made to drip on movie popcorn, you can make fairly tasty movie butter-style popcorn at home following these simple steps.

[edit] Ingredients

  • Popcorn
  • Butter
  • Popcorn salt

[edit] Steps

  1. Melt real butter over low heat in a small saucepan or in the microwave oven.
  2. Pop the popcorn using your favorite method.
  3. Pour the hot popcorn in a large bowl.
  4. Drizzle with melted butter.
  5. Season with popcorn salt. Toss well and enjoy. Popcorn salt is usually found next to the popcorn in the snack aisle.

[edit] Tips

  • Try different flavorings. Some people like to use Hickory smoke flavored salt on their popcorn, or herbal blends, or paprika powder, especially if they are trying to cut back on potato chips. Watch your butter intake if you want a lighter snack, though.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese is good sprinkled on popcorn.
