Friends Forever
You have many friends at school. Some kids and teenagers have
countless friends at school, but how many do they have outside of
school? Most of the time you have seen kids at school before, but
when you meet someone outside of school you don't know anything
about them. These are some tips that may help you make friends
outside of school.
- Look around your
neighborhood. Ask yourself Do you have any new neighbors?
Is there a group of people that goes outside that you haven't meet
yet? Is there anyone you're interested in meeting? There are many
people in your neighborhood. I'm sure you can find at least 1 or 2
new friends. They don't even have to live on the same road as
you.
- Sign-up for an after school
activity or community service. Make sure it doesn't happen
in your school. Go for some martial arts class or something your
interested in. Make sure there are people around your age
group.
- Sign-up for camp. Some sort of camp is a real good way
to meet new people from all over the place. Girl Scouts or boy
scouts could even be fun. I guarantee this is great way to get a
couple of new friends. For the little kids, daycare is always a
good option too. It is like a camp, but it has lots of kids from
ages three through twelve.
- Sign up for a club. The best thing about this is you'll
meet people with the same interest as you. You'll maybe even get to
share some of your experience there too. There is a big chance that
you'll become friends with every single one of your fellow
members.
- Work
part-time. If you are old enought to work, try applying for a
job. You can meet other people around the community and make
friends with them. You can make money and still make new friends.
This is a great way to make friends if you are a teenager.
- Start a conversation with someone. Once you've found
someone to be friends try to find out more about them. It is not
always a good idea to just walk up to a random person and ask "Will
you be my friend?" To me that sounds kind of desperate and they may
forget all about you later.
- Introduce yourself. It is a good idea
to start with the simple "Hi". If there was something that happened
and you like to discuss talk with them about it. Ask a question to
get the conversation going. Don't forget to a least tell them your
name after getting caught up in your conversation with them. Don't
ask them questions that may offend them. For example "Why do you
wear that?" "What's wrong with your eyes?" "why are you so shy?".
Nobody really likes to answer why or personal questions and you
just met them. Make sure you're listening to them and laugh with
them and not at them. Use your social skills!
- Always be nice to your new friends
- Just be yourself and don't try to fake your personality just to
impress them
- Enjoy the fact you have new friends and treat them the way you
want to be treated.
- Keep in contact with your new friends!
- Have a happy face when meeting someone new, but not the whole
time.
- Find someone that seems like they don't have that many friends.
They will always appreciate your kindness.
- Try to remember their name as well, because they'll remember
yours.
- Remember some of the things they say about them! They'll be
glad that you remembered
- If your first conversation with them doesn't go as planned just
apologize.
- Try not to get into fights
