Here's an article that teaches you how to fix/maintain your own Mantis Tiller.
[edit] Steps
- Before you start working on anything, make sure you take out the spark plug with a spark plug socket and examine it for any cracks in the ceramic and also check for any carbon build up where the spark is. If carbon is present or any other kind of of black stuff, take some sand paper and sand the place where the spark is made. Lastly for the spark plug, snap the spark plug back on to the rubber cover and lay the spark plug on the spark plug hole and make sure you can see the spark. Now pull the starter core and if you see a good spark your in business! If your going to use your Mantis Tiller in the next 30 days just hand thread the spark plug back in the hole and tighten with a spark plug socket, or if you are putting it away for the winter run all the gas out of it until it does not start anymore, then take out the spark plug and pour 1-3 cap fulls of engine oil down the spark plug hole or spray some WD-40 in it or do the same thing to the carburetor, reinstall the spark plug and turn over the engine a few times.
- With the spark plug concept gone over its time to examine the air filter and the carburetor. unscrew the nut and take off the air filter cover. If the air filter is dirty replace it or if it has a little dust on it blow it off with some compressed air. Check the choke and check the air inlet hole for any dirt that could inter the carburetor, close the choke and with compressed air, blow the dirt away and wipe the access dirt away with a cotton ball wetted with rubbing alcohol and undo the choke. Also, if your putting it away for the winter, pour 1-3 cap fulls of engine oil down the carburetor or spray some WD-40 down the carburetor and pull the starter cord once.
- Make sure there is nothing in the blades. Cut or take off the blade and get all the grass and debree out of the blades.
