Do you see balls of cotton wool? Or do you see the magic of clouds and the shapes they make?

[edit] Steps

  1. Find somewhere peaceful where you can lie on your back.
  2. Make yourself comfortable as you may be there for a while.
  3. Look up.
  4. Elvis... probably

Take in as much of the sky as you can see, or form a frame with your thumbs and forefingers and look through the "frame" to give yourself a more specific view.
  5. Let your eyes adjust, taking in light and shadows.
  6. If there are no clouds, go home.

[edit] Tips

  • Take a picnic - cloud-watching is much more fun when you make an afternoon, or even a day, of it
  • Clouds will rarely take on the exact shape of something, so be prepared to indulge in a little artistic license
  • Take photos of any clouds you see which are especially interesting or pretty
  • Sketching shapes in clouds is also very fun
  • Make a game of it, and award yourself points. For example, if you see a sheep, just the 1; Che Guevara is a 10.

[edit] Warnings

  • Dark clouds signify rain. Go home.
  • If you're cloud-watching somewhere peaceful or remote and you've brought a picnic, be wary of bears.
  • Bears signify danger. Go home.
