How to Jump a Dirt Bike over a Double

In this article you will learn how to jump a dirt bike.

[edit] Steps

  1. Find a jump suitable for your ability.
  2. Ride over the jump a few times and/or jump off the side to see how much distance you need.
  3. Get enough speed to land on the landing.
  4. About 3 feet from the jump get in jumping position, which is, Your feet tight on the foot pegs and in a crouching position with the front of your body towards the handle bars.
  5. before leaving the ground be sure to hold your knees tight to the gas tank to avoid your body from getting thrown forward or backward.
  6. Shift your weight backward when you hit the lip of the ramp and give the bike a little short acceleration to help lift you off. Don't lean back too much when going up the ramp or you will flip the bike.
  7. Shift your weight forward while in mid-flight to help yourself level out. While in the air, put your weight in the center of the bike to help keep the bike flat.
  8. Adjust the bike by using your weight and body to land with the rear tire touching just before the front to absorb the impact some.
  9. Always keep an eye on the landing
  10. make sure you land level with the land to avoid losing speed
  11. Give it a little bit of gas so you don't get stuck while landing
