How to Exercise a Rhodesian Ridgeback
Rhodesian Ridgebacks are hardy dogs built to hunt and run, and need constant, consistent exercise. Runners and joggers will find them an excellent exercise companion.
[edit] Steps
- Give them a lot of room at home. Rhodesian Ridgebacks do best with some outside space - ideally a large yard. If you live in a small space you will need to exercise the dog more. This means at the very least, once a day.
- Walk or run with your dog. You will likely tire long before they do! They will enjoy the exercise and adapt to your level and regimen.
- Provide toys for entertainment. These will alleviate the boredom if they have to stay indoors or in a confined space for any length of time.
[edit] Tips
- Train your dog when they are young. They are intelligent and will respond well to your leadership if trained gently and at a young age.
[edit] Warnings
- Always keep your dog on a leash. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are protective of their owners and can be combative with other dogs.
