Gatecrashers are unwanted guests who may be disruptive to an event or party. Find out how to get rid of them!
[edit] Steps
- Approach the gatecrashers, maybe with some friends. Find out if they have been drinking, or have been taking drugs. Listen to their explanation, because they may be a guest of one of your guests. If this is the case, then the problem lies with the guest who invited them without telling you, not with the gatecrashers and you may want to absorb them into your party. Be sure you understand the situation before deciding that you want them to leave. If you do:
- Stay calm and ask them to leave. Tell them that they do not have permission to stay and you would like them to leave immediately. Use non-confrontational but confident body language while doing this. You are not attempting to start a fight, just to rid yourself of a problem.
- If they do not go, or start causing trouble, take action. Tell them that if they don't leave, you will call the police.
- If they stay, and keep causing trouble, and you fear that they could start a fight or something bad could happen, call the police and explain the situation. Tell all your guests to stay calm and not to get irritated by the gatecrashers, so there is a smaller chance that a fight will break out. Hopefully the police will come quickly and deal with them!
[edit] Tips
- Start by being friendly and open-minded. Maybe these people will actually be a useful addition to a party.
- Decide if it's worth it to kick the gatecrashers out. If their presence is not overly disruptive, then you may want to let them stay and simply prevent their return by changing the way you invite people next time. Try not to cause trouble when it's not needed.
- Prevent this problem by making clear in the invitation whether guests may invite others.
- Have a friend nearby in case a situation occurs where you will need help.
[edit] Warnings
- If these people seem dangerous, or are armed with weapons, call the police immediately!
