How to Create a Printed List of Files or MP3s

You've got backup files, documents, MP3s, etc. but now you need to generate a printable list so you don't have to load each medium to see whats on each one. Follow these instructions to do just that.

[edit] Steps

  1. Download and install Winamp from http://www.winamp.com/.
  2. Open Winamp and open the playlist window if it's not already open by clicking the PL button.
  3. Open up the folders, floppy disks or CDs you want to make a printable file of in Windows Explorer. Select all files and drag them onto the Winamp playlist.
  4. At the bottom of the Winamp playlist, press the MISC button, then MISC OPT, then Generate HTML playlist or simply press CTRL+ALT+G.
  5. Print the resulting HTML view of your files.

[edit] Tips

  • To fit the list onto a CD case, copy the HTML into a word processor, then format the list to 6 columns, font size 6, landscape, widen the columns and adjust the margins.
