A cheat engine (or a hack) is commonly reffered to a program, launched before a specific game, which sole purpose is to extends the possibilities given to a user for the said game giving him more freedom and enables him to play with things the original creators did not think about (or did not want the game to do).
[edit] Steps
- Familiarize yourself with the types of hacks this game needs and who will be targetted with this kind of hack. If the game is an FPS (First-Person Shooter), then you may want to know about wall hacks, aim bots, speed hacks...
- Familiarize yourself with the game.
- Get what you can about the source of the game. Full disclosure of the source is the best option, but with a SDK (Software Developement Kit) you might be able to do something.
- Learn an object-oriented language that can be compiled to assembly code, such as C or C++ or C sharp.
