Also known as Long Jing or Lung Ching tea, the Dragonwell tea is the most renowned of Chinese green tea. Many studies have found that it contains a very high level of the antioxidant catechins.

- Decide what kind of dragonwell tea you want.
- Xi Hu Long Jing is produced in West Lake (Xi Hu) in Zhejiang Province, China, and is widely considered to be the best. The most esteemed variety is Lion Peak Long Jing or Shi Fend Long Jing -- it is yellowish green in colour.
- Mei Jia Wu Long Jing has an attractive jade green color.
- Know when to get it. Dragonwell tea is only harvested in spring. The earlier in spring it is harvested, the higher the quality.

- Beware of fakes. Always buy from a trustworthy vendor.
- Some unscrupulous tea makers over pan-fry their tea to imitate the yellowish green colour of Shi Feng Long Jing.
- Some merchants mix a small amount of high grade with low grade tea, and sell it as expensive high grade.
- Others take fresh tea leaves produced in Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan Provinces and process them using dragonwell tea techniques.
