How to Burn PowerPoint to DVD

A PowerPoint is a slide show format created by Microsoft. It has established market dominance in the slide show area. This is how to copy one to DVD.

[edit] Steps

  1. Create the PowerPoint. Depending on where you want to show the PowerPoint, you may want so select a presentation mode such as kiosk mode.
  2. Get a blank DVD. Any optical disc can work using this method.
  3. If you do not have one already, you will need DVD burning software. Some examples include K3B and Nero, but you can use the Send File to CD/DVD function in Windows XP/Vista.
  4. Send the PowerPoint file to the DVD.
  5. Remove the DVD from the drive and move it to the presentation location. This location must be running either Microsoft Office, OpenOffice.org, or KOffice to view this presentation correctly.
  6. Play the presentation. The file must be opened however, since powerpoint is NOT a video format, it can never be played on a DVD player.

[edit] Tips

  • PowerPoint presentations should not be dull. Try to keep the information spread out across slides.
  • A good length for a PowerPoint is 10-15 minutes.
  • This method can be used for CD/DVD/Blueray/HVD discs.

[edit] Warnings

  • Do not make your PowerPoint larger than the capacity of a DVD. This is extemely hard to do though because a DVD holds 4.7 GB.
