How to Burn Music to an Audio CD

Burning music to an audio CD is useful if you want all your fave songs in one place rather than having to switch between separate albums. A home-made CD is fully-functional and has all the privileges of one you would buy in the shops, so it can be listened to from a stereo or Walkman or computer. If you have access to mp3s, a blank CD or DVD and Windows Media Player 9 (WMP), this article will satisfy your musical needs!

[edit] Steps

  1. Insert a blank CD or DVD into the disk drive. Take advantage of a DVD if you have many music files as it can hold more data.
  2. On Windows Explorer, create a new folder and copy and paste your mp3s there. Let's call the folder 'mp3s' and store it for future reference (see Tips). Right-click on the folder icon and click 'Add to playlist' and convert it to WMP playlist format.
  3. Another icon will have appeared in the folder. Double-click on this and this will launch WMP with your playlist loaded on it.
  4. Click the large button on the left sidebar that says 'Copy to CD or Device'. You should be directed to a screen listing all of your songs. Ensure that everything fits so that the process runs smoothly.
  5. Click 'Copy' which is indicated with a red circular button next to it. It's located on the right of the upper bar above the screen.
  6. The process has now started. Once it's finished the disk drive will eject your audio CD and you can exit WMP.

[edit] Tips

  • It is possible to erase songs from your CD later. Launch Windows Explorer and click My Computer > DVD/CD-RW Drive (D:) and then right-click and select the appropriate function to delete everything. Then access your 'mp3s' folder mentioned above and delete the files you don't want as well as the playlist. Then add the updated playlist to your computer and repeat steps 3 to 6.
  • To add songs, copy and paste mp3s into the DVD/CD-RW Drive (D:) folder.

[edit] Warnings

  • It may seem obvious, but clean your CD regularly to avoid any technical errors.
