Horror punk is a style that was defined by a band called The Misfits, blending horror movie gimmicks and costumes with a more punk attitude and persona.

Wear a lot of black; in the eyes of the public, there is nothing scarier than that.
- Wear dark clothes with skeleton prints on them, and horror movie t-shirts.
- You can also wear black shiny leather, just as long as it's not too tight.
- You can even make your own shirts. They can be for your favorite band, movie, novel.
- You can change shirts too by ripping, shredding, or sewing them.
Try applying lots of eyeliner and eye shadow on your eyes; it doesn't matter what gender you are, this usually looks good on everyone if you apply it right.
- You could use eyeliner other than black too.
- Try putting it as close to the eye as possible.
Accessorize; wear pointy spikes, skeleton print gloves, skeleton mask, and gas mask are good options.
Decide what you want on your feet; combat boots, Converse, Vans, Iron Fist or Punkrose will work, just as long as it's dark colored. Heels make wonderful accessories.
Listen to punk music and horror punk bands. Some examples are: The Misfits, Samhain, Balzac, The Cramps, Calabrese, and Blitzkid.
Knowing about Paranormal stuff is good! Stuff like Vampires, Werewolves, or any myth/legendary stuff of the likes (especially the scary ones!)
- Try reading and watching science fiction more often.

You don't necessarily have to be mean to people, just have to scare with your looks. You can be as polite and nice as you want.
Being in a horror punk band helps you a lot.
Blond hair is acceptable.
Some horror punks wear white make-up on their faces; this is optional, but it would be a nice touch.
Flare your nostrils and widen your eyes if you catch someone giving you the stare, this can often send an eerie faux serial murderer message.

Don't wear light colors, except white and light gray.
You don't necessarily have to have a Devilock, (The Misfits's hair style) have it how you want.
You don't need to break the law, you just have to look like you would break it, if you had to.
If you do decide to wear white make-up, you may be labeled as goth, or maybe emo. Watch the quantity you wear.
Again, be very careful that you don't look emo. Many punks/horror punks frown upon or despise the emo culture and you won't look very smart.
Don't make a habit out of wearing masks, because people will automatically suspect something.
Wear what you want, and mix it up a bit! Animal prints, neons, fake blood, it's all about what YOU think Horror Punk is, not what Hot Topic declares it to be.
There's a difference between being a pin-up girl, and looking like a prostitute.
Never put real blood on your self!
